Below the top eye holes are a second pair of cutouts backed by hide pockets

Eskimo Ice, 1970s Greenwich Village Street Photo round mat making it look like anI purchased this one from a favorite dealer in the Hudson River Valley, with lots of bins of drawings and photos and ephemera to dig through. I love it for feeling like a whole world on a corner, and iconic of a Manhattan long gone. (The Eskimo Ice cart also makes me think of David Hammons's brilliant snowballs for sale street performance of 1983.)
